Chiropractic
Chiropractic care concerns itself with the diagnosis treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine.
The approach to chiropractic is similar to conventional medicine, in that a detailed history is taken, and examination and testing is performed to make a diagnosis. A treatment plan is then developed.
A chiropractor must earn a post-graduate degree called a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.), pass an exam and have a state license. Continuing education is also required to maintain this license.
The method of treatment used by chiropractors can vary from stretching and sustained pressure and also joint manipulations, most commonly on the spine, in order to improve motion and function.
Chiropractic treatment can help with a variety of conditions that effect the bones, cartilage, connective tissues, joints and muscles. It can greatly reduce pain and even eliminate it, which also reduces the need for pain-relieving medications. Chiropractic is also known to improve athletic performance, posture and symptoms of osteoarthritis. Many migraine and other headache suffers find tremendous relief from chiropractic adjustments. Some patients even find reduction in scoliosis symptoms.
Advanced Integration
Muscle Technique®
Advanced Integration Muscle Technique (AMIT) is a physical therapy treatment used to improve muscle strength, flexibility, and coordination. It combines a variety of techniques, such as manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and active exercises, to help people regain their optimal level of physical functioning.
The advanced integration muscle technique is beneficial for people who have been affected by a wide range of orthopedic and neurological conditions. It is also beneficial for people with chronic pain who wish to improve their overall physical functioning. This technique is used to help individuals with muscle weakness, joint pain, decreased range of motion, and limited flexibility.
The advanced integration muscle technique begins with an assessment of the individual’s current physical condition and musculoskeletal system. This assessment helps Dr. Kim understand the patient’s limitations and develop a plan to improve or restore muscle strength and coordination.
Dr. Kim will then uses a variety of techniques to help the patient achieve their goals. For example, manual therapy may be used to stretch and relax the muscles and joint tissues. Therapeutic exercises may be used to strengthen the muscles and improve their coordination. Active exercises, such as stretching and strengthening exercises, may also be included in the treatment plan.
Neurological Integration System
Neurological Integration System (NIS) is a holistic healthcare approach that utilizes the body's natural ability to heal itself. NIS is based on the belief that the nervous system is the master system of the body and controls all other systems. It works to restore balance and harmony within the body, allowing it to heal itself and function optimally.
NIS works to determine where signal blocks exist between the neurological (brain) pathways, and the physiological (body) allowing the body to access its natural healing abilities.
NIS does NOT:
• involve the mind
• involve manipulation
• require practitioner intent
• require drugs
• require special diets
• require homework
Common complaints and symptoms that can be addressed by using NIS include: structural (spinal, muscles, tendons ligaments, joints, etc), physical (immune, digestive, respiratory, heart, chronic disease, etc), pathological (infections: viral, bacterial, fungal, protozoan), neurological (trauma, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, etc), hormonal (depression, fertility, female / male health), emotional (anxiety, bi-polar, PTSD).
Sacral Occipital Technique
Sacral Occipital Technique (SOT) is an osteopathic manual therapy technique used to treat somatic dysfunction in the spine and pelvis. It is a form of chiropractic manipulation which uses gently applied forces to the spine, pelvis and other body parts to restore proper alignment and balance. The technique is based on the concept of neuro-structural integration, which is the idea that the body is constantly working to maintain an optimal level of health.
Some of the conditions that can be treated with SOT include: low back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, scoliosis, pelvic pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, sprains and strains, and tendonitis. SOT can also be used to help with postural misalignments, such as poor posture or posture related to poor ergonomics.
Koren Specific Technique
Koren Specific Technique (KST) is a holistic and non-invasive technique that is used to address physical, mental, and emotional issues in the body. It is based on the idea that all imbalances in the body, whether physical, mental, or emotional, are connected and can be treated through the use of pressure points on the body. KST is based on the work of Dr. Tae Woo Yoo, a Korean acupuncturist, who developed this unique technique.
KST works by using a series of points on the body to release tension, remove blockages, and promote healing. These points are located in specific areas of the body, including the feet, hands, ankles, and wrists, as well as other areas. By pressing firmly on these points, Dr. Kim helps to release energy blockages and restore balance in the body. Dr. Kim may also use a special tool to stimulate the points, which helps to increase energy flow and promote healing.
The KST technique has been used to treat a wide variety of physical, mental, and emotional issues, including chronic pain, fatigue, depression, anxiety, and more. It is an effective and safe way to address a wide variety of health problems and is often used in conjunction with other treatments..
Neural Emotional Technique
Neural Emotional Technique (NET) is a unique healing modality that uses the body’s own energy systems to restore balance and wellbeing. It is based on the idea that emotional and physical health are interconnected, and that emotions can be held in the body’s physical structures. NET practitioners use a combination of manual techniques and energy-based treatments to help remove the blocks that prevent the body from achieving optimal health.
NET is a non-invasive healing modality that is safe and effective for a variety of physical and emotional issues. Many people find that NET helps them to reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, and strengthen their overall sense of wellbeing. It can also help to alleviate physical symptoms such as headaches, chronic pain, and digestive issues.
Nasal Cranial Specific Technique*
The Nasal-Cranial Specific Technique (NCST), or nasal release technique has many other names, such as bilateral nasal specific, nasal ballooning, cranial facial release, endonasal technique, and neurocranial restructuring. Nasal Cranial Specific Technique (NCST) is a manual therapy technique used to treat various issues related to the head, neck, and upper body. It is an advanced form of cranial-sacral therapy and fascial release that works specifically on the area of the cranium and associated structures.
NCST is a hands-on treatment that uses a gentle, non-invasive pressure to the soft tissues of the head, neck, and upper body to help increase circulation, reduce pain, and improve range of motion. By using a specific sequence of gentle movements, Dr. Kim is able to access the entire cranium, along with the associated structures, to address any issues that may be present. During the treatment, he will use various hand placements and movement patterns to help restore balance to the cranium and its associated structures.
If Dr. Kim determines that nasal ballooning is the correct course of action, this procedure involves a small balloon attached to a bulb which is inserted into the nasal meatuses and quickly inflated and deflated. It's done eight times – both lower, middle, and upper meatuses, and then the lower meatuses again. Each time the balloon is inflated it puts pressure on different cranial bones, which feels and sounds like a typical chiropractic adjustment.
There are many conditions that can benefit from this technique. Common conditions that can be treated with NCST are headaches, sinus problems, concussions, insomnia, tinnitus, TMJ dysfunction, jaw pain, neck and back pain, whiplash, postural issues, and stress-related conditions.
These adjustments can re-establish or increase the flow of oxygen, blood and cerebrospinal fluid to the nervous system and to the brain.
Patients should be aware that this treatment can be a very unpleasant experience and it can result in excess drainage for a period of time.
*This modality is not included in a typical chiropractic appointment. It can be purchased separately.
